What happens when my session times out?

CAREFUL automatically logs you out after 8 minutes of inactivity on desktop devices to protect patient data. When your session times out, you'll be asked to re-enter your password to continue working.

• Session timeout only applies to desktop users. Mobile app users are not automatically logged out due to inactivity.
• You'll receive a warning notification 60 seconds before being logged out.
• Any mouse movement, keyboard input, or clicking in the application resets the timeout timer.

After 7 minutes of complete inactivity (no mouse movement, keyboard input, or clicks), CAREFUL displays a warning notification: "You will be logged out in 60 seconds".

If you don't interact with the application within that 60-second warning period, your session ends and you're automatically redirected to the session timeout screen.

When your session times out, you'll see a screen showing:

• Your first name and a message: "Your Name, your session has timed out due to inactivity. Please re-enter your password to continue"
• A password input field
• A Sign In button
• A link at the bottom: "Not Your Name? Click here to log out."

To continue your session:

1. Enter your password in the password field
2. Click the Sign In button
3. After successful authentication, you'll be returned to the page you were viewing before the timeout

Your work is preserved and you can continue exactly where you left off.

If you're using a shared computer or workstation and see someone else's name on the timeout screen:

1. Click the "Not Name? Click here to log out." link at the bottom of the screen
2. You'll be redirected to the main login page
3. Enter your own phone number and password to log in with your account

Important: Do not enter the other user's password. Always use the logout link to switch users on shared devices.

• Set a reminder: If you need to step away from your desk, consider logging out manually to avoid interruption when you return
• Warning notification: When you see the 60-second warning, any quick action (moving your mouse or clicking anywhere) will reset the timer
• Mobile users: The automatic timeout does not apply to mobile apps. You must manually log out when finished
• Password issues: If your password doesn't work on the timeout screen and you see someone else's name, use the logout link to return to the main login page
