Introduction
The Quick Guide Tour is an interactive walkthrough that introduces you to CAREFUL's core features and navigation. It automatically appears when you first log in, or you can launch it manually at any time to refresh your knowledge of the platform.
Before You Start
No special permissions required. The Quick Guide Tour is available to all organisational users (Administrators, Team Owners, and Clinical Users).
Note: If your organisation and team have chat enabled, you'll also see a separate Chat Tour when you first visit a team with chat functionality.
Launching the Quick Guide Tour
Automatic Launch
The Welcome Tour automatically appears the first time you log in to CAREFUL. If you dismiss it, it will appear again on your next login unless you:
- Complete the tour by clicking Close on the final step, or
- Snooze it for 24 hours by clicking Remind me later
Manual Launch
To view the Quick Guide Tour at any time:
- Click your name or profile icon to navigate to your User Profile page
- Click the kebab menu (three dots ⋮) in the top-right corner
- Select Show Quick Guide Tour from the dropdown menu
- The tour launches immediately with a modal overlay
Tour Content
The Quick Guide Tour consists of 9 interactive steps that highlight key areas of CAREFUL:
Step 1: Welcome
An introduction to CAREFUL with a link to the Clinical User Quick Start Guide video.
Step 2: Setting Yourself On Duty
Explains how to set your on-duty status to receive mobile notifications and handover alerts. The tooltip highlights the duty switch in your profile.
Step 3: Using the Action Menu
Shows you the kebab menu (⋮) in the top-right corner and explains the context-specific options available there.
Step 4: The My Patients Page
Introduces the My Patients page where you view all patients for whom you're responsible. Includes an embedded video tutorial.
Step 5: Viewing Your Team's Handover List
Explains how to access and update your team's patient list through the Teams section in the sidebar. Includes an embedded video tutorial.
Step 6: Viewing and Managing Actions
Guides you through the My Actions page where you can view, update, and complete tasks. Includes an embedded video tutorial.
Step 7: Handing Over Patients
Explains how to use the Handovers feature to transfer patient responsibility to colleagues. Includes an embedded video tutorial.
Step 8: Messaging Team Members
Introduces team messaging features and how to communicate with other team members. Includes an embedded video tutorial.
Step 9: Getting Extra Support
Provides links to the CAREFUL Support Centre and support contact email (support@careful.online).
Navigating the Tour
Each tour step includes navigation buttons:
- Next — Advance to the next step
- Back — Return to the previous step (appears from Step 2 onwards)
- Remind me later — Close the tour and hide it for 24 hours (only on Step 1)
- Close — Complete the tour and mark it as finished (only on Step 9)
- X button (cancel icon) — Exit the tour at any time without marking it complete
The tour uses a purple modal overlay that blocks interaction with the rest of the page. Each step highlights specific UI elements with tooltip boxes that point to relevant buttons, menus, or pages.
Completing or Dismissing the Tour
To Complete the Tour
Click Close on Step 9 (Extra Support). The tour won't automatically appear again, though you can always launch it manually.
To Snooze the Tour
Click Remind me later on Step 1. The tour will be hidden for 24 hours, then automatically appear again on your next login.
To Exit Without Completing
Click the X button (cancel icon) at any time. The tour will close but won't be marked as complete, so it will automatically appear again next time you log in.
Chat Tour
If your organisation has chat enabled and you're a member of a team with chat functionality, you'll see a separate Chat Tour when you first visit that team.
Launching the Chat Tour
Automatic Launch: The Chat Tour automatically appears the first time you visit a team page with chat enabled.
Manual Launch:
- Navigate to a team with chat enabled from the Teams section in the sidebar
- Click the kebab menu (⋮) at the top of the team page
- Select Show Chat Tour from the dropdown menu

The Chat Tour uses the same navigation and completion options as the Welcome Tour (Next, Back, Remind me later, Close, X button).
Tips
- Videos are embedded — Several tour steps include Vimeo tutorial videos. You can watch these directly within the tour without opening a new window.
- Can't access the sidebar? — On mobile devices, the tour may highlight elements that are inside the burger menu (☰). If a step seems to point to nothing, check whether you need to open the navigation drawer first.
- Tour highlights real UI elements — Each tooltip is attached to an actual button, link, or menu item. You can interact with these elements after the tour completes.
- Re-watch at any time — The Quick Guide Tour is always available through your User Profile kebab menu, so you can refresh your knowledge whenever needed.
- 24-hour snooze — If you're busy and don't want the tour to interrupt your work, click Remind me later and it won't reappear for a full day.
