Reassign Action

Introduction

Use the reassign action feature to transfer responsibility for a task to another team member. This is helpful when you're going off duty, when someone else is better placed to complete the task, or when workload needs to be redistributed across your team.

Before You Start
  • You must have access to view the action (be a member of a team with the patient)
  • The action must be open (not already completed)
  • The new assignee must be verified and have access to the patient through a shared team
Steps

There are two ways to reassign an action:

From My Actions List
  1. From the sidebar, click My Actions
  2. The system displays a table of all your open actions
  3. Click the action menu (⋮) on the row for the action you want to reassign
  4. Select Reassign Action from the dropdown menu
  5. The reassign action dialogue box appears, showing the action name and patient details
From Action Detail View
  1. From the sidebar, click My Actions
  2. Click anywhere on the action row to open the full action details
  3. Click the action menu (⋮) in the top navigation bar
  4. Select Reassign action from the dropdown menu (this option only appears if the action is still open)
  5. The reassign action dialogue box appears, showing the action name and patient details
Selecting the New Assignee
  1. In the New assignee field, start typing a colleague's name
  2. The system searches for eligible users as you type (with a brief delay to allow you to finish typing)
  3. Eligible colleagues appear in the dropdown results
  4. If a user cannot be assigned to this action, they appear greyed out with a reason in brackets (such as "User is not verified" or "User is not in a team with patient")
  5. Click on the colleague you want to assign the action to
  6. The Submit button becomes active once you've selected a valid assignee
Completing the Reassignment
  1. Click Submit to confirm the reassignment
  2. The button shows a loading indicator whilst the system processes your request
  3. If successful, the dialogue box closes automatically
  4. The action now shows the new assignee in the actions list and action detail view
  5. The new assignee receives a notification (if they are on duty)
  6. Your action counts and the team's action lists are updated immediately
If There's an Error

If the reassignment fails validation, an error message appears below the New assignee field with an explanation. Common reasons include:

  • The selected user no longer has access to the patient
  • The action has been completed by someone else in the meantime
  • The user you selected is already the current assignee

The dialogue remains open so you can correct the issue or select a different colleague.

Tips
  • The search excludes the current assignee from the results, so you won't accidentally reassign an action to the same person
  • Only verified users who share at least one team with the patient appear as eligible assignees
  • If you can't find the colleague you're looking for, check that they are verified and have access to the patient through a shared team
  • You can click anywhere outside the dialogue box or click the close button to cancel the reassignment without making changes
