Introduction
The Actions tab on a patient's profile displays all tasks assigned to team members for that patient's care. This allows you to monitor outstanding work, track overdue actions, and view completed tasks, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks in patient care coordination.
Before You Start
- You must share at least one team with the patient to view their actions
- Organisation Administrators can view actions for all patients in the organisation
Steps
- From the sidebar, click My Patients to view your patient list
- Click the patient's name to open their profile
- Click the Actions tab (you can also click the overdue actions count badge on the Profile tab to jump directly here)
- The Actions table displays all open actions by default, sorted by the assigned team member's name
To view completed actions:
- Tick the Show completed actions checkbox at the top of the table
- A Closed column appears, showing when each action was completed and by whom
To sort the actions:
- Click any column header (Title, Assigned to, Created, or Due) to sort by that column
- Click again to reverse the sort order
- Your sort preference is saved automatically
To interact with an action:
- Click the checkmark icon for a quick-complete option (you'll need to click twice within 2 seconds to confirm)
- Or click the three-dot menu (⋮) on any action row to:
- Complete Action - mark the action as done and record the result
- Reassign Action - transfer the action to a different team member
- Update Progress - add a progress note without closing the action
- View Attachments - see any files attached to the action (if available)
- Click anywhere else on the action row to open the full Action View page with complete details and history
Understanding the Action Status Tags
Actions are colour-coded to help you prioritise:
- Open (green) - action is open with no urgency
- Soon (yellow) - action is due within the next 24 hours
- Overdue (red) - action is past its due date
- Closed (grey) - action has been completed (only visible when "Show completed actions" is ticked)
The Due column shows both the due date/time and a relative time indicator (e.g., "3 hours from now" or "2 hours overdue") to help you quickly assess urgency.
Tips
- The Actions tab displays a badge with the count of overdue actions, making it easy to spot urgent tasks at a glance
- The quick-complete checkmark button has a 2-second confirmation window to prevent accidental closures - if you click once and change your mind, simply wait for it to revert
- Use Update Progress regularly to keep your team informed about action status without closing the action prematurely
- Your sort preference and "show completed" setting are remembered for your next visit, saving you time
- The table displays up to 50 actions per page; if a patient has more, use the pagination controls at the bottom
- Only users assigned to an action (or organisation administrators) can complete or reassign it, but any team member can view actions and update progress
