Introduction
Clinical summaries provide a quick overview of each patient's diagnosis and current clinical status directly in the patient list. You can toggle their visibility on or off to reduce screen clutter or focus on specific information.
Before You Start
No special permissions required. This feature is available to all users in the My Patients view.
Note: This feature is currently only available in the My Patients view. It is not yet available in Team patient lists or Organisation patient lists.
Steps
- From the sidebar, select My Patients
- In the top navigation bar (above the patient table), click the filter icon
- In the filter dropdown panel that appears, locate the checkbox labelled Show clinical summaries
- Click the checkbox to toggle clinical summaries on or off:
- When checked: Each patient row displays a "Clinical summary" section showing the patient's diagnosis
- When unchecked: The clinical summary section is hidden from all patient rows
- The patient table updates immediately — no save button is required
What You'll See
When clinical summaries are shown, each patient row includes:
- Section label: "Clinical summary"
- Content: The patient's diagnosis text, or "No current clinical summary." if no diagnosis has been recorded
The clinical summaries appear below the patient's basic information (name, location, responsible clinician) in the table.
Tips
- Clinical summaries are hidden by default when you first open My Patients. Enable the checkbox if you want to see them
- Your preference persists during your current session — if you enable clinical summaries, they'll remain visible as you navigate between pages until you log out
- Reduce screen clutter by hiding clinical summaries when you only need to see patient demographics and responsibility status
- Quick diagnosis reference — showing clinical summaries lets you see each patient's current diagnosis at a glance without opening individual patient records
