How to Show Handover Categories on the Team Viewer

Introduction

Handover categories display additional clinical information specific to your team's specialty directly in the patient list. This allows you to see important handover details at a glance without opening individual patient records, making ward rounds and handovers more efficient.

Before You Start

  • You must be a member of a team that has handover categories configured
  • If your team has no categories set up, the toggle option will not appear
  • No special permissions are required to view handover categories

Steps

  1. From the sidebar, select My Teams and click on the team you want to view
  2. In the top navigation bar, locate and click the tree icon button (this opens the handover controls panel)
  3. A collapsible panel appears below the button showing two toggle switches
  4. Locate the Show Handover Categories: label with its accompanying toggle switch
  5. Click the toggle switch to turn it on (it will change from light gray with an info icon to purple with an eye icon)
  6. The patient table automatically reloads and expands to show additional information below each patient row
  7. For each patient, you'll now see:
    • A Clinical summary section displaying the patient's current clinical summary
    • A grid of handover categories specific to your team (labeled as "{Team Name} Handover Information")
    • Individual category fields with their names and values
  8. To hide the handover categories, click the toggle switch again to turn it off

The patient table will return to its compact view, showing only basic patient information.

Tips

  • Your preference is saved: The toggle state persists in your browser, so when you return to this team, your choice will be remembered
  • Multiple categories: If a category has multiple entries, they'll appear in a carousel that you can navigate through
  • Empty categories: Categories without data will show a dash ("-") for text fields or an empty form for structured data
  • Show Actions toggle: The same panel includes a Show Actions toggle that displays patient actions. You can enable both toggles simultaneously to see handover categories and actions together
  • Mobile responsive: On mobile and tablet devices, the grid adjusts to show fewer columns for easier viewing
  • Active indicator: When handover categories or actions are visible, the tree icon button in the top bar will appear highlighted
