Introduction
The instance indicator appears in the bottom-right corner of your screen and tells you which environment you're working in. This helps prevent accidentally using demo or trial data in a production setting and ensures you know whether your organisation has been verified by CAREFUL.
Before You Start
No special permissions required. The instance indicator is visible to all users based on the environment you're accessing and your organisation's verification status.
Note: System administrators will not see the free trial indicator, even if the organisation is unverified.
What the Indicators Mean
CAREFUL displays one of three indicators (or none at all) depending on your environment:
1. Demo Site Indicator
If you see a yellow-amber badge labelled "DEMO SITE" in the bottom-right corner, you are using the CAREFUL demo environment. This environment is for testing and training purposes only.
- What it looks like: Yellow-amber coloured badge with text "DEMO SITE"
- When you see it: When accessing CAREFUL via a URL containing "demo" (e.g., demo.careful.online)
- What it means: You're in a safe testing environment where no real patient data exists
2. Free Trial Indicator
If you see an orange badge labelled "FREE TRIAL" in the bottom-right corner, you are using the production CAREFUL platform, but your organisation has not yet been verified by the CAREFUL team.
- What it looks like: Orange coloured badge with text "FREE TRIAL"
- When you see it: When your organisation is in trial mode and not yet verified
- What it means: You're using the live platform, but your organisation is awaiting verification
- What to do: If you wish to have your organisation verified, please contact the CAREFUL team at hello@careful.online
3. Sandbox Site Indicator
If you see a coral-salmon coloured badge labelled "SANDBOX SITE" in the bottom-right corner, you are using the CAREFUL sandbox environment for testing new features.
- What it looks like: Coral-salmon coloured badge with text "SANDBOX SITE"
- When you see it: When accessing CAREFUL via a URL containing "sandbox"
- What it means: You're in a testing environment for evaluating new functionality
4. No Indicator (Verified Production)
If you see no indicator in the bottom-right corner, you are using the production CAREFUL platform and your organisation has been verified by the CAREFUL team.
- What it looks like: Clean interface with no badge in the bottom-right corner
- What it means: Your organisation is fully verified and authorised to use CAREFUL
Tips
- The instance indicator automatically hides on mobile devices to save screen space
- Each indicator uses a distinct colour (yellow for demo, orange for free trial, coral for sandbox) so you can quickly identify your environment at a glance
- If you're unsure whether your organisation should be verified, contact your CAREFUL administrator or the CAREFUL support team
