How to Create a New Team

Creating a new team allows you to organise your clinical staff into distinct units (such as departments or wards) for patient management and care coordination. Only administrators can create teams.

• You must be an Administrator to create a new team
• Team names must be unique within your organisation
• You cannot create a team with a name that already exists

1. From the sidebar, select Teams

2. Open the team creation dialog using one of two methods:

   • Click the kebab menu (⋮) in the top right corner and select New team, OR
   • If no team is currently selected, click the Create a new Team button (with a plus icon)

3. The Create Team dialog appears with a single text field

4. In the Team Name field, enter a unique name for your team (e.g., "Emergency Department", "Acute Medical Unit")

5. Click Submit

6. The system validates your team name:

   • If the name is blank, you'll see an error message
   • If the name already exists in your organisation, you'll see an error message
   • If validation fails, correct the error and click Submit again

7. Once the team is created successfully:

   • The dialog closes automatically
   • You're redirected to the new team's page
   • The team appears in your Teams list in the sidebar
   • An entry "Team created" is added to your organisation's audit log

8. You are automatically added to the team as the team owner, giving you full permissions to manage the team

• Choose clear, descriptive team names that reflect the clinical unit or department (e.g., "General Surgery" rather than "Team A")
• Team names are case-sensitive, so "Emergency Department" and "emergency department" may be treated as different names
• After creating a team, you'll need to separately add team members using the Add user to team option from the team's kebab menu
• If your organisation has chat enabled, you can enable team chat separately through the team's settings after creation
• There is no limit to the number of teams you can create
