Introduction
Logging in gives you access to the CAREFUL platform where you can manage patients, coordinate care with your team, and track clinical actions. You'll use your email or phone number along with your password to securely access your account.
Before You Start
- Your credentials: You need the email address or phone number registered with your CAREFUL account and your password
- Internet connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection for security verification
- No special permissions required: Any registered user can log in
Steps
For Desktop (Web Browser)

Navigate to the CAREFUL login page:
- Demo environment: https://app.demo.careful.online
- Production environment: https://app.careful.online

In the Email / Mobile number field, enter your registered email address or phone number
- For phone numbers, include your country code (e.g., +44 7700 900801, not 07700900801)
- If entering a phone number, a country selector dropdown will appear automatically

In the Password field, enter your password

Click the Sign In button
- The button will show a loading indicator while your credentials are verified
- Security verification happens automatically in the background

After successful login:
- System administrators are redirected to the Organizations admin page
- Clinical users already on duty go directly to the dashboard
- Clinical users not on duty see a welcome screen (see below)
For Mobile App

Open the CAREFUL mobile app on your device

If needed, select your region from the dropdown at the top of the screen

In the Email / Mobile number field, tap and enter your credentials
- Use your full international phone number with country code (e.g., +1 514 345 6789)
- Or use your registered email address

In the Password field, enter your password

Tap the Sign In button

If prompted by iOS, choose whether to save your password to your device's keychain for faster future logins

After successful login:
- You may be asked to set your duty status (see below)
- Push notifications will be enabled if you set yourself to "on duty"
Setting Your Duty Status (Clinical Users)
If you're a clinical user who is currently off duty, after logging in you'll see a welcome screen asking: "Would you like to set yourself to on duty?"

Tap Yes if you want to be on duty
- You'll receive push notifications for urgent updates (mobile app)
- Colleagues can send you handover requests
- You appear as available in the system

Tap No if you want to remain off duty
- Push notifications are paused
- You won't receive handover requests
- You can still use the app to view patients and complete tasks
You'll then be taken to your dashboard.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid email or password" error
- Double-check your email address or phone number (including country code)
- Verify your password is correct (passwords are case-sensitive)
- If you've forgotten your password, click Forgotten your password? to reset it
"Network unstable. Recaptcha failed to load" error
- On web: Click Click here to Refresh the page to reload the login page
- On mobile: Close and restart the app
- Check your internet connection is stable
Session expired
If you see a session timeout message, your previous session has expired for security reasons. Simply log in again with your credentials.
Tips
- Remember your credentials: Use your full international phone number format if logging in with your mobile number (e.g., +44 7700 900801, not 07700 900801)
- Password security: Your password is case-sensitive and should be kept confidential
- Returning to a protected page: If you try to access a CAREFUL page without being logged in, you'll be redirected to login and then automatically returned to the page you wanted
- Multiple devices: You can log in on multiple devices simultaneously - your session on each device is independent
- Browser sessions: On web browsers, your session expires when you close the browser for security
