Introduction
Creating a new team allows you to organize patients and staff into clinical units such as wards, departments, or specialty services. Teams help coordinate patient care by grouping healthcare professionals who work together.
Before You Start
- You must be an Administrator to create teams
- You must be logged into CAREFUL
Steps
Method 1: Using the Create Button
- From the sidebar, select Teams
- You'll see the Teams page displaying all teams in your organization
- Click the Create a new Team button (with a plus icon) in the top section of the page
- A dialog box titled "Create Team" appears
- In the Team Name field, enter a name for your new team (e.g., "Ward 3A" or "Cardiology Outreach")
- Click the Submit button
- A loading spinner appears briefly while your team is being created
- The dialog closes automatically and you're redirected to your new team's page
- The new team now appears in both your "My Teams" list and the organization's "All Teams" list
Method 2: Using the Team Dropdown
- From the sidebar, select Teams
- At the top of the page, locate the team selection dropdown (it displays "Select a team..." if no team is selected)
- Click the dropdown to open the team menu
- Select the New team option (marked with a plus icon) from the dropdown
- A dialog box titled "Create Team" appears
- Follow steps 5-9 from Method 1 above
Tips
- Choose descriptive names: Use names that clearly identify the clinical unit or specialty (e.g., "Emergency Department" rather than "Team 1")
- Only administrators can create teams: If you don't see the "Create a new Team" button, you don't have administrator permissions
- Immediate access: Once created, you're automatically taken to your new team's page where you can begin adding members and patients
- Team organization: After creating a team, you'll want to invite users to join it and configure team settings
