Introduction

The Clinical User Quick Start Guide is an interactive walkthrough that introduces new users to CAREFUL's key features. This guided tour automatically appears when you first log in and can be replayed anytime from your profile settings. The tour highlights essential functions like managing patients, completing actions, and communicating with your team.

Before You Start

No special permissions required. The Quick Start Guide is available to all clinical users. You can access it immediately after creating your account or replay it at any time from your user profile.

When you log in to CAREFUL for the first time:

Navigate to your User Profile page (this happens automatically after login)
The Welcome Tour will launch automatically with a modal overlay
You'll see the welcome screen with the title "Welcome to CAREFUL, your new clinical co-ordination tool"
The tour includes a link to watch the full Clinical User Quick Start Guide video on Vimeo
Choose one of two options:
- Click "Remind me later" to snooze the tour for 24 hours
- Click "Next" to begin the guided walkthrough

If you choose "Next", you'll progress through 9 interactive steps:

Step 2: Setting yourself 'On Duty' - Learn how the duty toggle works and when to use it
Step 3: Using the Action Menu - Discover the context menu in the top-right corner
Step 4: The 'My Patients' page - Watch a video showing how to manage your patient list
Step 5: Viewing and updating your Team's handover list - See how to update clinical information
Step 6: Viewing and Managing Actions - Learn how to track and complete tasks
Step 7: Handing over patients - Understand the handover process
Step 8: Messaging other members of your team - Explore the team chat features
Step 9: How to get extra support - Find links to the Support Centre

At any step, you can:

Click "Back" to review the previous step
Click "Next" to advance to the next step
Click the X icon in the top-right to close the tour
On the final step, click "Close" to complete the tour

Once you complete or close the tour, it won't appear automatically again.

Replaying the Tour Manually

To watch the Quick Start Guide again at any time:

Navigate to your User Profile page (click your name in the sidebar)
Click the Action Menu (three-dot icon) in the top-right corner of the screen
Select "Show Quick Guide Tour" from the dropdown menu
The tour will launch immediately, starting from Step 1

The tour will play through all 9 steps exactly as it did on your first login.

Snooze Behavior

If you clicked "Remind me later" on the welcome screen:

The tour will disappear for exactly 24 hours
After 24 hours, when you next visit your User Profile page, the tour will automatically reappear
You can snooze again or complete the tour at that time

Desktop vs Mobile Experience

Desktop users will see:

The tour steps attached to specific UI elements (e.g., the duty switch, sidebar navigation items)
Embedded Vimeo tutorial videos within the tour steps
Larger, more detailed explanations

Mobile users will see:

Simplified tour text optimized for smaller screens
Tour steps displayed in the center of the screen (not attached to elements)
Links to videos rather than embedded players

Tips

Take your time: The tour is self-paced. Spend as long as you need on each step
Watch the videos: Steps 4-8 include embedded tutorial videos that provide visual demonstrations
Use the external link: The first step includes a link to the complete Clinical User Quick Start Guide video, which covers additional topics not in the interactive tour
Don't worry about closing early: If you need to close the tour to handle urgent work, you can easily replay it later from your profile menu
Bookmark the Support Centre: Step 9 links to the CAREFUL Support Centre, which has comprehensive help articles on all features

Team Chat Tour: A separate guided tour available when you first access Team Chat, covering messaging features like @mentions and patient references
