Patient Actions Tab

Introduction

The Patient Actions Tab displays all actions (tasks) associated with a specific patient. You can view action status, quickly complete actions, or manage them through reassignment, progress updates, and detailed completion workflows.

Before You Start

  • You must be a member of a team that has access to the patient
  • The patient must already exist in the system
  • No special permissions are required to view actions; creating and managing actions depends on your team membership

Steps

Viewing Patient Actions

  1. From the patient detail view, click the Actions tab
  2. The system displays a table showing all actions for this patient with columns: Status, Title, Assigned To, Created, Due, and Actions
  3. If the patient has overdue actions, a red badge icon appears on the Actions tab
  4. To view closed actions, check the Show completed actions checkbox
  5. An additional Closed column appears showing when each action was closed and by whom

Quick Complete an Action

  1. Click the green checkmark icon button next to the action you want to complete
  2. The button transforms into a green Click to Complete button
  3. Click Click to Complete within 2 seconds to confirm
  4. If you don't click within 2 seconds, the button reverts to the checkmark icon automatically
  5. Once confirmed, the action closes immediately without requiring additional details

Complete an Action with Details

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the action row
  2. Select Complete Action from the dropdown
  3. The system opens a dialog titled "Complete action [ACTION NAME] for patient [FIRSTNAME] [LASTNAME]"
  4. Optionally enter text in the Action result field to document the outcome
  5. Optionally upload files in the Attachments section
  6. Click Submit to close the action
  7. The table refreshes to show the updated action status

Reassign an Action

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the action row
  2. Select Reassign Action from the dropdown
  3. The system opens the reassignment dialog with the New assignee field auto-focused
  4. Type a name in the search box (placeholder: "Start typing a name to search users...")
  5. Select the new assignee from the search results (invalid users show with a reason and cannot be selected)
  6. Click Submit to reassign the action
  7. The table refreshes showing the new assignee in the Assigned To column

Update Action Progress

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the action row
  2. Select Update Progress from the dropdown
  3. The system opens the progress dialog showing any Previous updates at the top
  4. Enter your progress note in the New update field (this field is auto-focused and required)
  5. Optionally upload files in the Attachments section
  6. Click Submit to add the note (the button is disabled until you enter text)
  7. The dialog closes and your update is saved

View Action Attachments

  1. Click the three-dot menu on the action row
  2. If the action has attachments, select View Attachments (this option is disabled if no attachments exist)
  3. The system opens an image viewer displaying all attachments
  4. Navigate through the attachments using the viewer controls

Tips

  • Use quick complete for simple tasks: The 2-second confirmation pattern prevents accidental completions while keeping the workflow fast
  • Sort and filter efficiently: Click column headers to sort by Status, Due date, or Created date. The system remembers your preferences
  • Check completed actions regularly: Enable "Show completed actions" to review the team's work and track action closure patterns
  • Add progress notes liberally: Updating progress keeps team members informed without closing the action prematurely
