Introduction
The "Take responsibility for all patients" feature allows you to quickly assume responsibility for every patient currently assigned to your team. This is particularly useful during shift changes or when taking over care for an entire team at once, eliminating the need to individually accept responsibility for each patient.
Before You Start
- You must be a member of the team whose patients you want to take responsibility for
- The team must have active patients assigned to it
- You should ensure you have the capacity to manage all patients in the team
Steps
To take responsibility for all patients in your team:
-
Navigate to the team view by selecting My Teams from the sidebar, then click on the team you want to work with
-
In the team view, locate the dropdown menu button in the top-right corner of the navbar (it appears as a button with the team's color-coded background)
-
Click the dropdown button to open the team functions menu
-
From the menu, select Take responsibility for all patients (this option appears with an import icon)
-
A confirmation dialog appears with the title "Take Responsibility All Patients in Team" and the message: "Please confirm that you wish to take responsibility for all patients in this team"
-
Review the confirmation message carefully, then click the Take Responsibility button to proceed
-
The button will show a loading state while the request is processed
-
Once complete, the dialog closes automatically and the team data refreshes
-
You will now see yourself listed as the responsible clinician for all patients in the team
Tips
- Use during shift handovers: This feature is ideal when you're taking over an entire team at the start of your shift
- Check patient count first: Before using this feature, review how many patients are in the team to ensure you can manage them all
- Validation errors: If an error message appears (displayed in red text), click Cancel to close the dialog and contact your administrator if the issue persists
- Team members only: This option only appears in the dropdown menu if you're an active member of the team
- Alternative for specific users: If you need to take patients from a specific colleague rather than all team patients, team owners and standard members can use the "Take all users patients" option from the team members list
