Introduction
Selecting a patient is the primary way to access their full profile, including demographics, clinical summaries, actions, and audit logs. You can select patients from your patient list or from search results to view and manage their care.
Before You Start
- You must have access to at least one team to view patients
- Patients will only appear if they are assigned to teams you belong to
- No special permissions are required to view patient profiles (standard team member access is sufficient)
Steps
Method 1: Select from My Patients List
- From the sidebar, click My Patients to view your patient list
- (Optional) Use the search field at the top to filter patients by name, Medical Record #, National ID, phone number, or email. The search updates automatically as you type.
- (Optional) Use the Patient status: dropdown to filter by patient status (e.g., "Active Patients", "No status", or organization-specific statuses)
- (Optional) Sort the list by clicking the Name, Status, or Location column headers
- Click anywhere on the patient's row to select them
- The patient's profile page opens, displaying their information across four tabs: Profile, Actions, Notes, and Log
Method 2: Select from Patient Search Results
- Navigate to the Patient Search view and enter your search criteria (First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, National ID, Hospital Number, etc.)
- Click Submit to display matching patients
- Click on the patient row you want to select - the row background turns silver to indicate selection
- Click the Select button that appears in the selected row
- The patient is added to your view and their profile page opens
Understanding the Patient Table
The patient table displays key information at a glance:
- Icon/Age column: Shows a gender-based avatar, the patient's age, and a red badge if they have overdue actions
- Name column: Displays the patient's name with a risk flag icon (red/amber/green) and expandable details including gender, date of birth, Medical Record #, National ID, and location
- Status column: Shows the current status with custom color coding, days since last update, and who made the update
- Actions column (desktop only): Displays the count of open actions
- Location column: Shows the patient's current location
- Source column (Team Patients, desktop only): Indicates where the patient arrived from
- My Patient Tag column (desktop only): Shows "My Patient" if you are the responsible clinician
Tips
- The entire patient row is clickable - you don't need to click on specific text
- On mobile devices, some columns are hidden to optimize the display. Tap a row to see the full patient profile.
- Your search and filter preferences are saved in your session, so returning to My Patients will maintain your last view
- Patients with a red badge in the Icon/Age column have overdue actions that need attention
- The risk flag icons (red/amber/green) indicate the patient's risk level - hover over the icon for more details
- External patients (from other organizations) have a light gray background with a colored left border, while internal patients have a white background
