CAREFUL

How to Re-Enable a Disabled User

Introduction

When a user account has been disabled, they cannot access the CAREFUL system. Organization administrators can restore access by re-enabling the user account, allowing them to log back in and resume their clinical work.

Before You Start

  • Required Permission: You must be an Organization Administrator to enable disabled users
  • User Status: The user account must already be disabled
  • Important: Re-enabling a user restores their login access, but does not automatically reassign patients or actions. You may need to manually manage patient assignments after re-enabling the account.

Steps

  1. From the sidebar, select My Organisation

  2. Navigate to the Members tab to view your organization's user list

  3. Check the Show Disabled Users checkbox near the top of the members list

    • The table will refresh to display disabled user accounts alongside active users
  4. Locate the disabled user in the members list

    • Disabled users are marked with an Account Disabled badge
  5. Click the dropdown menu button (three dots ⋮) on the right side of the disabled user's row

  6. Click Enable user from the dropdown menu

    • The action takes effect immediately without requiring confirmation
  7. The user list automatically refreshes

    • The user now appears as an active account
    • The "Account Disabled" badge is removed
    • The user can immediately log in and access the system

Tips

  • No confirmation required: Unlike disabling a user (which requires confirmation), enabling a user happens immediately when you click "Enable user"

  • Team membership preserved: Disabled users remain members of their teams. When you re-enable them, they automatically regain access to those teams without needing to be re-invited

  • Patient assignments: Re-enabling a user does not automatically reassign patients back to them. If patients were reassigned using "Take all this user's patients" while they were disabled, those patients remain with the new responsible clinician

  • Actions and tasks: Any actions assigned to the disabled user remain assigned to them. Review their action list after re-enabling to ensure tasks are still relevant

  • Audit trail: All enable and disable actions are logged in the system audit trail for compliance purposes
