Introduction
The Sent Handovers view allows you to monitor the status of patient handover requests you've sent to colleagues. You can track which handovers are still pending and cancel them if needed before they're accepted.
Before You Start
- You must have an active user account (not available for system administrators)
- You need to have previously sent at least one handover request to see data in this view
- No special permissions are required to view your sent handovers
Steps
-
From the left-hand sidebar, click Handovers
- You'll see the Handover requests page load with two tabs at the top
-
Click the Sent tab
- The URL will update to
/handovers?tabindex=1 - If you have pending sent handovers, you'll see a table displaying them
- The URL will update to
-
Review your sent handovers in the table
- Each row shows: the patient name(s), the recipient's name (in the "To user" column), and a Cancel button
- If you sent a handover for multiple patients, you'll see the first patient's name followed by "and X more" — click this link to expand and view all patient names
-
(Optional) Cancel a handover request
- Click the red Cancel button on the right side of the row
- Click the button again to confirm the cancellation
- The handover will be removed from your sent list and the recipient will no longer see it in their received handovers
Tips
- Badge counts: The Sent tab displays a small badge showing the number of pending sent handovers, making it easy to see at a glance how many are outstanding
- Empty state: If you see the message "You currently have no pending sent handover requests", it means all your previous handovers have been accepted, rejected, or cancelled
- Automatic refresh: When you cancel a handover, the list refreshes automatically — you don't need to reload the page
- Multiple patients: If you handed over multiple patients at once (using "Handover all my patients"), they'll appear as a single row with an expandable list
- Quick access: You can bookmark the direct URL
/handovers?tabindex=1to jump straight to your sent handovers
