Introduction
Progress notes allow you to document updates and changes to patient actions as situations evolve. This creates a transparent record of task progress and ensures seamless communication during team handovers.
Before You Start
No special permissions required. Any team member assigned to or viewing an action can add progress notes to it.
Steps
From the Actions Table:
- Navigate to My Actions or your team's actions view from the sidebar
- Locate the action you want to update in the table
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the end of the action row
- Select Update Progress from the dropdown menu
- The "Update progress on action" dialog opens, showing the action name and patient details
From the Action Detail View:
- Click on any action to open its detail view
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the action header
- Select Update Progress from the dropdown menu
Adding Your Note:
- The dialog displays any Previous updates at the top for context, showing when each note was added and by whom
- In the New update text field (which automatically receives focus), type your progress note
- Optional: Click the file uploader in the Attachments section to attach relevant files or documents
- Review your note for accuracy—the Submit button remains disabled until you enter text
- Click Submit when ready
- The dialog closes automatically, and your note appears in the action's history
The action view refreshes immediately to show your new note in the "Previous updates" section, and the patient data updates automatically.
Tips
- Reference previous updates: Always review existing notes before adding yours to maintain continuity and avoid duplicate information
- Be specific: Include relevant details like measurements, observations, or changes in patient condition
- Use attachments: Add lab results, images, or documents that support your update
- Empty content validation: The system won't let you submit an empty note—you must enter meaningful text
- During file upload: The Submit button will show a loading state while files are uploading, preventing accidental double-submission
