How to Revoke a User's Administrator Access

Introduction

Revoking administrator access demotes an organisation administrator back to a standard staff member. This removes their ability to manage organisation settings, invite users, and perform other administrative functions whilst maintaining their access to teams and patients.

Before You Start
  • You must be an Organisation Administrator to revoke another user's administrator access
  • You cannot revoke your own administrator access
  • You'll need access to your registered phone number or email to complete the OTP (one-time password) verification
  • The user being demoted must currently be an Organisation Administrator (not a system administrator)
Steps
  1. From the sidebar, click My Organization

  2. Click the Members tab to view all organisation members

  3. Locate the administrator you want to demote in the members list. Look for users with the "Organization Admin" role label

  4. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) at the end of that user's row to open the action menu

  5. Select Demote from Organization Admin from the menu

  6. A confirmation dialogue appears with the title "Confirm Demotion from Organization Admin". Review the message: "Are you sure you want to demote [First Name] [Last Name] to an organization member?"

  7. Click the Yes button (shown in red) to proceed, or Cancel to abort the demotion

  8. An OTP verification dialogue opens displaying: "Verification code sent to [your phone] and/or [your email]. You can use either one."

  9. Check your phone (SMS) or email inbox for the verification code

  10. Enter the verification code in the text input field

  11. Click the submit button to complete the verification

  12. The dialogue closes automatically and the members list refreshes. The user's role now displays as "Staff" instead of "Organization Admin"

Tips
  • The verification code is sent to your contact details (the person performing the demotion), not the user being demoted
  • You can use either the SMS code or the email code -- whichever arrives first
  • If you enter an incorrect OTP code, a validation error will appear and you can try again
  • The demotion is recorded in the organisation audit log (accessible via the Log tab)
  • Demoted users retain all their existing team memberships and patient access -- only their administrative privileges are removed
  • To restore administrator access later, use the Promote to Organization Admin option from the same user action menu
