How to Sort Patients

Introduction

The patient sorting feature allows you to organize your patient list by name, status, or location, making it easier to find patients and prioritize your work. Your sort preferences are automatically saved for your next session.

Before You Start

No special permissions required. Any user who can view the "My Patients" page can sort the patient list.

Steps

On Desktop:

  1. From the sidebar, select My Patients
  2. You'll see a table with patient information. By default, patients are sorted by last name (A-Z)
  3. Click on any sortable column header (Name, Status, or Location) to sort by that field
  4. An up arrow (↑) appears on the column, indicating ascending order (A-Z, or lowest to highest)
  5. Click the same column header again to reverse the sort order
  6. The arrow changes to a down arrow (↓), indicating descending order (Z-A, or highest to lowest)
  7. The currently sorted column displays its arrow icon, while other columns' arrows are hidden

On Mobile/Tablet:

  1. From the navigation menu, select My Patients
  2. Tap the sort button (sort icon) in the top navigation bar
  3. A dropdown menu appears with the label "Sort by:"
  4. Select your preferred sort field from the dropdown: Name, Status, or Location
  5. The patient list reloads with your selected sort order
  6. To reverse the sort order, tap the arrow button (↑ or ↓) next to the dropdown
  7. The arrow toggles between up (ascending) and down (descending)
  8. Tap the sort button again or tap outside the menu to close it
