Team Chat Tour

Introduction

The Team Chat Tour is an interactive guided walkthrough that introduces you to CAREFUL's Team Chat features. The tour automatically appears when you first visit a team with chat enabled, or you can access it anytime from the team menu.

Before You Start
  • Chat must be enabled for both your team and your organisation
  • You must be a member of a team with chat enabled
  • No special permissions required -- all team members can access the tour
Steps
Accessing the Tour Automatically
  1. From the sidebar, click Teams to expand the accordion
  2. Click on any team name that has chat enabled
  3. The tour will automatically appear as a modal overlay when you first visit the team
  4. If you've previously snoozed the tour, it will reappear after 24 hours
Accessing the Tour Manually
  1. Navigate to any team with chat enabled
  2. Click the Chat tab to view the team chat
  3. Click the kebab menu (⋮) in the top right corner
  4. Select Show Chat Tour from the dropdown menu
  5. The tour will launch immediately, regardless of whether you've seen it before
Navigating the Tour

The tour consists of 7 interactive steps:

  1. Welcome to Team Chat -- An introduction explaining the tour's purpose. Click Next to continue, or Remind me later to snooze for 24 hours
  2. Mentioning a Team Member -- Learn how to use @ followed by a team member's name to mention them and trigger notifications. Includes links to download the CAREFUL mobile app. Click Back to return or Next to continue
  3. Referencing a Patient -- Discover how to use ! followed by a patient's name to create clickable links to their profile. Click Back or Next
  4. Creating Actions from Chat -- See how combining @member and !patient in a single message creates an Action button for quick task assignment. Click Back or Next
  5. Notifying the Entire Team -- Learn to use @Room to notify all on-duty team members. Click Back or Next
  6. You're Ready to Chat! -- A summary of all features with a quick reference guide. Click Back or Next
  7. How to get extra support -- Links to the CAREFUL Support Centre and email support. Click Back to review or Close to complete the tour

At any step, you can:

  • Click the X button in the top right to close the tour
  • Click Back to return to the previous step
  • Click Next to advance to the next step
  • Click Remind me later (Step 1 only) to snooze for 24 hours
  • Click Close (Step 7) to mark the tour as complete
What Happens After Completing the Tour
  • When you click Close on the final step, the tour is marked as complete and won't auto-show again
  • You can always access the tour manually via the kebab menu → Show Chat Tour
  • If you click the X button to cancel at any step, the tour is marked as complete
  • If you click Remind me later, the tour will reappear automatically in 24 hours when you next visit the team
Tips
  • The tour highlights specific UI elements on your screen as you progress through the steps, making it easy to understand where each feature is located
  • On mobile devices, the tour is optimised for touch interactions with scrollable content
  • If you need to review the tour after completing it, you can always access it via the kebab menu -- it doesn't disappear permanently
  • The tour includes links to download the CAREFUL mobile app for iOS and Android, which enables push notifications when you're mentioned in chat
  • Each step includes helpful illustrations to visualise the features being explained
  • The tour remembers your progress across browser sessions using local storage
